What is Title I?  Title I is the largest federal assistance program for our nation's schools.
What is the goal of Title I?  The goal of Title I is a high quality education for every child, so the program provides extra help to students who need it most.  The are children who are the furthest from meeting the standards the state has set for all children.
Can Title I make a difference?  Yes, children do better in school--and feel better about themselves.
How does Title I work?  The Federal Government provides funding to states each year for Title I.  The State Educational Agencies (SEA) send the money to school districts based on the number of low income families.  The Local School District (LEA) identifies eligible schools and provides Title I resources.
How are students identified for Title I assistance at Lincoln Elementary School? Students are identified through a variety of methods which include teacher referrals, class observations, scores from the Iowa Basics, reading inventories, and parent referrals.
How are Title I services delivered at Lincoln School?  Title I teachers collaborate with the classroom teachers in determining the current needs of each student. The delivery of services depends on the skills that need to be targeted. Title I teachers may work with students individually or in small groups in the classrooms and/or in the Title I classrooms.
